# Global Payment Regulation Map 2022

---

After years of preparation and deadline changes, PSD2 is finally in effect across Europe. Now all payments across Europe are subject to SCA rules. But is 3DS performance where it needs to be?

Merchants were off to a rough start with significant performance fluctuations in Q1 2021. But authentication rates seem to be increasing. Could this be a sign that customers are more comfortable with authentication?

**Report highlights:**

- 3DS 2.1 transactions massively increased from 16% to 65% over the course of 2021
- Denmark leading the way with 3DS2.2 transactions at 6% of their total
- Authentication success rates have broadly increased
